Abandoned Printing Plant (Part 3)

So...I've been absent from my blog for a couple of days...really a lot to do at work and I needed some recreation and to spend less time in front of the computer...
But here are some more photos from my trip to the abandoned printing plant! Some of them you may know from the first two posts about this location - I have processed them with different software to get some more atmosphere in the pictures. Enjoy!

Abandoned Printing Plant (Part 2)

Okay, now for round two - here is the second set of photos I took this week during my exploration of a regional newspaper's abandoned printing plant.

Abandoned Printing Plant

This printing plant belongs to the publishing company of a regional newspaper and was built in the 1970s and has been used until 2003 when the entire printing operation of the newspaper was moved to a bigger facility.

The old building, situated right next to the administration offices of the publishing company, still stands, and yesterday - ten years after it was closed down - I was granted access by the management and was able to take photos.
I spent almost 4 hours in there and out came a couple of really good pictures I think.
There's a lot of them, so I'll probably need a lot more than one post to share them all, so keep an eye open for the next post!

Here's the first set of the photos I took:

Abandoned Nuclear Weapons Depot (Part 2)

Did I mention that I went to explore an old US Nuclear Weapons depot in northern Germany last weekend?
I do think so.
Nonetheless, I also made some HDR photos that would like to share with you.
Since it was my first visit there, the focus was on documenting the site, so I only managed three pictures in HDR.
Here they are:

Abandoned Hospital (Part 12)

Yesterday, I was there yet again.
I was asked about the location by someone and since the place does have some dangerous corners in terms of stability, I offered to accompany this person there while giving her the most important information about where to be careful and which rooms are the most rewarding.

The whole thing turned into a really nice afternoon with two people having a photoshoot after I had given them the "grand tour" of the buildings while I was running around on my own to try and get some more good shots of the building.

The Cement Factory

The buildings whose remains you can see here are what is left of the head office and plant of a very large producer of cement that was founded in 1862. So large and high-grade in fact that for a long time this company supplied construction companies overseas with cement - until local companies there were able to produce cement of similar quality.

In the years 1907 and 1908, the ompany had a cable railway built - over a total length of 13 kilometers - that was able to transport over 400 metric tons of clay from the surrounding areas into the factory. This railway was in operation until 1977 and was after its completion the largest cable railway in Germany.

Most of the facility has been dismantled and torn down by now. Some areas are being used for cultural events and "official" graffiti area.
